Technology

Today we learned how to light a bunsen burner. Firstly we learned the steps on how to light the bunsen burner, then we followed the instructions and after that we all took turns on lighting the bunsen burner. After that our tech teacher grabbed another few more pieces of equipment which was a beaker, tripod and wire gauze.

While Mr was setting up the stations my friends and I were spectating and watching what he was doing, after a few minutes we filled up the beaker to 80ml and place it on the wire gauze and on the lighter and turn on the gas tap.

BLAKE Organisation

Today room 6 and I got to experience virtual reality by Blake. Before we moved onto the virtual reality part we first talked about marine life and the things we can do to help it progressively get better, we also talked about things like pollution and global warming to help us understand it.  A fact I learnt about marine life is that when people take too many snapper or fish to be specific it can unbalance the cycle by causing seaweed to be eaten by too many kina.

Tupaia Master Navigator – by Hanahivah Rose

This week my group and I read a book about Tupaia and the Master Navigator. The book is about a man named Tupaia born in Rai’iatea which is the second largest island in East Polynesia. Tupaia came from a high ranking family, Tupaia also had a lot of gifts which  is why he was sent to work with the ‘arioi’ which was an exclusive group of priest, navigators, warrior and more who also worshipped the war god, ‘Oro.

Tupaia was a master navigator who also helped Captain Cook by translating languages for him whenever they would  navigate to islands, and also helping communicate the Maori people and Cooks crew.

Baked beans curry

Today in room 6 our teacher Mr Naidoo brought Ingredients and utensils to make Baked bean curry. Before we moved on to making it we had to list down all the ingredients on our chromebook or a paper then we had to write down the method on  how to make it. Once we have finished listing all the things we needed to  know about the Baked bean curry we then moved on to making it.

My review: In my opinion I think it was good but not for me since I ¨ m not much of a bean fan but other than that it was quite delicious and recommend for others to buy from Mr Naidoo’s curry packets since its very affordable for something so delicious!

The owner of  the Wheke had refused so Kupe had to take matters into his own hands by gathering a few of his family members and going after the Wheke to kill it.

Across the sea

‘Across The Sea’ is a story my class has already readen, and the time is actually based on the future. Although, if you read the story you may think that the story takes place in the past due to how they’re using old-day navigation, but if you read the story thoroughly you will come across a part that mentions ruins under the oceans surface, which is buildings. The reason the buildings have actually become ruins and drowned is because of global warming and climate change, which is not surprising at all. The main character, who’s name is Ihaka, is shown to be peculiar and a person who thinks and questions all the time.

Mothers day

Mother’s Day is a holiday celebrating mothers and maternal figures, focusing on gratitude and appreciation for their impact  on individuals  and society.  Mother’s Day is a day to honor mothers for their contributions to families and society as a whole. In many countries, Mother’s Day is observed on the second Sunday in May.

ANZAC DAY

ANZAC Day is more than just a holiday, it is a national day in remembrance of New Zealanders and Australians, witness on the 25th of April, commemorating the ANZAC, who arrived on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915 in time of WW1.

On ANZAC, poppies are also worn to represent the remembrance and sacrifices of those who were in the war. There are many different coloured poppies that each represent something different, the purple poppy for example is used to represent the remembrance of the animals who have served in the war, including dogs, horses and pigeons who were used to send out messages.
